What to Expect

What can you expect during your custom photography session with me? Well, for starters, we’ll talk. We’ll discuss where and how you plan to display your photographs; we’ll talk about what, if any, gifts you’ll be purchasing for others and whether you’re interested in custom artwork.

Then, we’ll talk about location–do you prefer to be photographed in your home, or do you have a beautiful garden you’re proud of? Would you enjoy being photographed in a serene park or in the woods? Or is an urban setting more your style? What story should your family’s portrait tell? Custom photography is an investment in lifetime memories, and it’s your story to tell–I’m here to record it for you.

My goal as your photographer is to capture your family interacting naturally with one another–capturing you as you uniquely are. While I will make suggestions, you won’t be forced into stiff, unnatural poses. I want you to come away with heirloom images–ones telling your unique story–that reflect the love, joy, and heartfelt connection you share with your family.

Will I be photographing only your children? The same “rules” apply. They have their own stories to tell, too! Does your daughter love wearing her pink frilly tutu with her red cowboy boots while having tea with her dolls? That’s a huge part of her story! Does your son live for sports? Then we’ll be sure to capture some images reflecting that interest. Think about all the things that make your children who they are…and why you want to preserve those memories. Images of your children posed in front of a plain backdrop simply do not tell their story, and when you look back at the images from your session, I want you to remember those chapters vividly! Chain studios simply cannot offer this type of personal, customized attention to your family’s unique needs.

Your family is unique and your portraits should be as well. You won’t come away with cookie-cutter images with plain backdrops and oversized props. You will come away with beautiful portraits that portray you. This is what awesome looks like!
